Video: I had no family history of haemophilia

Rich was diagnosed with haemophilia as a child. He had no family history of the disease. When he first started developing unusual bruises neighbours, GPs and health visitors became suspicious and concerned that something was not right. Finally, after a normal childhood injury didn't seem to be getting any better, he was given a blood test and diagnosed.

Rich and his family began to find out more about haemophilia and what the diagnosis would mean for him. With no family history of haemophilia, the whole family learnt about the condition together. Having no haemophilia role models was challenging at times for Rich. Since, he found it hard to imagine what his future with haemophilia would look like.

Rich, now 31 years old in this video, discusses his diagnosis, what it was like learning about the disease, and connecting online as an adult with the haemophilia community for support.
